FILM and TV PERSONALS and PROSTHETIC EFFECTS ARTISTS
Why Your Needs are Different
As an Prosthetic Effects Artists or Personal Makeup Artist, you’re considered the best of the best—and nothing should inhibit your work. Whether you’re sculpting prosthetics, laying lace, painting details, or working with high-profile talent, your setup should match your level of expertise.
Prosthetic Effects Artists teams often need multiple stations to accommodate multiple artists working at once.
Personal Makeup Artists frequently share space with Hair since actors often want both done in tandem. With two people working at the same time, lighting can become an issue—but with the right setup, you stay in control.
Whether you’re in a dedicated workspace, multiple trailer stations, or the bird’s nest of a makeup trailer, this lighting setup ensures you have full visibility without interference.

The TML Kits You Need in your Arsenal
- TML Master Kit without Stands – Mount two key lights on the main station mirrors where the cast can see themselves clearly. This provides even, controlled lighting, ensuring no details are lost.
- Two Jet Lights, one on each adjoining station mirror – Mounted with a Magic Mount or Suction Mount, these lights help illuminate the body and surrounding space, keeping all angles well-lit for detailed prosthetic and hairstyling work.
- Eyelight Pro Kit or two Jet Lights mounted behind the head – Essential for bald caps, lace work, and detailed Prosthetic Effects Artists applications.
These Ensure:
- Full coverage for detailed work – Whether applying prosthetics, blending edges, painting, or working with wigs, you need to see everything.
- No interference between artists – When two people are working on the same actor, this setup ensures no one is blocking the other’s light.
- Works in any trailer or BG setup – Built to handle the travel and movement of a trailer without shifting or flickering.
Owning Your Kit as a Personal or Prosthetic Effects Artist
If you’re a Personal Makeup Artist or Prosthetic Effects Artist, investing in your own lighting kit is one of the smartest moves you can make. You won’t always be working in a perfectly lit trailer, and relying on production to provide the right setup isn’t always an option.
Owning this setup means you’ll always have reliable, professional lighting—no matter where the job takes you.
- Works in Any Country – All TML lights are globally compatible, so whether you’re working on an international set or traveling with an actor, you’re covered. No need to worry about different power sources or adapters.
- Adapts to Any Location – Whether you’re in a trailer, a tent, a hotel room, or a temporary backstage setup, these lights go where you go, keeping your work consistent.
- Perfect for Red Carpet & Press Work – If you also do red carpet, press tours, or editorial work, this lighting setup gives you full flexibility. From hotel rooms to event prep areas, you’ll always have the right lighting to get your client camera-ready.

A Special Build for Production
These large custom panels measuring 5x40, were rented from TML by production. They were mounted onto a 40x40 mirror, and you can see an Eyelight and Key Light filling in the light from the side. The back was lit by 2 Jet Lights. This trailer was built for a large prosthetic makeup that was shot everyday of a feature film. There were up to 4 artists working at any given time.Need Rentals? Let Production Pay for It.
All of these lights are available for rental through CVA (Cases for Visual Arts), TML’s sister company. Make sure production covers your lighting needs—because nothing should compromise your work.
